Dave's industrial work experience started soon after he graduated from high school. He spent a few years working in the sawmill and planermill at the Evans Forest Products mills at Savona, BC. Dave then moved his attention to the construction industry where he worked as an apprentice carpenter. Dave worked for several years in Alberta on industrial construction sites before returning to UCC in Kamloops. There he took the Computer Aided Design and Drafting program. After graduation from UCC Dave worked as a designer, detailer and project manager for Posi-line installations. Dave then spent three and a half years as a mechanical designer for Newnes Machine designing and detailing various sawmill, planermill and lumber handling machines.

Dave started working at the Kamloops office of Woodpro engineering in 1990 as a designer detailer. From March of 2001 to 2007 Dave was the Branch Manager for the Prince George based consulting firm. His responsibilities included sales, overseeing of all the projects in the office, collection of field information, conceptual design, estimating, detail design and detail drawing, checking of drawings, preparation of tender documents, capital project budget proposals, and engineering estimates and proposals. General work included: office management, budget control, implementation of office standards, project supervision, and co-ordination, project management and on-site project management.

Dave's hobbies include Skiing, Camping, and Fishing.
